Frequently asked questions:

What are the main benefits of BioRePeel? You’ll see immediate results and an instant glow! BioRePeel sheds dead skin cells, exfoliates the skins surface, hydrates, and reveals a more youthful looking appearance to the skin. Long term, BioRePeel helps fight fine lines and wrinkles, lift pigmentation, even skin texture and alleviates acne and scarring. It is safe for all skin types, tones and ages.

How many sessions will I need? This is based on your needs and desired goals. General recommendation is 6 sessions, depending on the severity of skin condition and concern. Treatments can be scheduled 5 to 14 days apart. BioRePeel can also be done as a standalone application for skin maintenance before a big event to get that incredible glow!

How long do results last? You will see instant results with a nice skin glow, tightness of pores, and more plump skin. BioRePeel targets the dermis (medium depth of skin) with the goal of stimulating new skin growth and improving surface texture and appearance. It is used to diminish long term effects in treating active skin concerns such as sun damage, blemishes, pigmentation, wrinkles and fine lines.

How long does the procedure take? Single treatments are quick and effective. Approximately 20 minutes. It can also be combined with certain facials and dermaplaning.

Does it hurt? No. Some of us feel nothing at all. Others may feel a bit “spicy” in more dehydrated areas for a minute or two. No One Leaves looking abused.

Is there any peeling involved? BioRePeel has minimal to No Downtime, which means no excessive sheet peeling will occur after a session, unlike most other TCA peels. However, it is normal for some people to experience slight to moderate skin shedding due to the accumulation of dead skin cells in a specific area that has been removed and stimulated. Many have compared this to looking like they are recovering from a sunburn.

Is BioRePeel safe? BioRePeel is completely safe for use on all skin types, tones and ages. It is not photosensitive and can be used all year round with recommended use of SPF 40+.

However, there are contraindications. Do not schedule a BioRePeel with the following conditions listed below:

Dermaplane

Dermaplaning is an excellent anti-aging treatment that provides both immediate and cumulative results with each treatment you receive.

Dermaplaning is a physical form of exfoliation that will remove the dead skin cells and vellus hair from the surface of your skin. Your face should feel softer than ever and look brighter and more youthful!

Contraindications to Dermaplaning:

  • Botox or fillers: Wait at least 2 weeks after injections. However, It is ok to Dermaplane prior to injections.

  • Retin-A: Stop using Retin-A for 7 days before and 7 days after your treatment.

  • Chemical peel: Dermaplaning may be done prior to a peel. However, post-peel, wait 14+ days, depending on condition of your skin.

  • Laser treatment: Post laser, please wait 14+ days before having a Dermaplane treatment.

  • IPL: Post IPL, please wait 14+ days before having a Dermaplane treatment.

Post Treatment, be sure to take care of your skin following dermaplaning or other anti-aging treatments. Following these instructions will maintain your results longer and help you avoid complications.

Cleanse: Use a gentle cleanser and warm, not hot, water. Splash water on your face. Do not use abrasive cleansers, wash cloths. Clarisonic, or hot shower spray for the first 24-48 hours. Do not use cleansers, serums or spot treatments containing retinol, salicylic acid or Benzoyl Peroxide (BPO) for 5 days following the treatment.

Tone: Hydrating and brightening toners applied with a cotton round will penetrate deeper into the skin. If you are sensitive, try all products on a small area before applying full face.

Serums: Active ingredients in serums penetrate much better now, so you'll see quicker results.  Ask your esthetician about the right serums for your skin. Please do not use Retin-A for 5 days pre and post dermaplaning. For darker skin tones: use a brightening serum  to reduce any risk of PIH. Ask your esthetician for recommendations.

Moisturizer: Choose a hydrating moisturizer and apply twice daily. It is common for skin to feel tight but dewy to the touch. This is good and will only last a short time. Moisturizer locks in skin's hydration with the added absorption of it's active ingredients. For darker skin tones: use a 1% hydrocortisone cream for 5 days following treatment to calm inflammation and reduce any risk of PIH.

SPF: Your skin is more vulnerable to UV rays after exfoliation. SPF is essential to protect your skin - even on cloudy days when UVA (aging) rays are present.

Makeup: Makeup can irritate skin after dermaplaning. Bacteria, alcohols, colorants and fragrances are all irritants that can cause contact dermatitis. Be sure to clean your makeup brushes, replace your sponges and apply clean (new) makeup to minimize risks. Mineral makeup is suggested for its non-comedogenic properties.

MEN: Dermaplaning cannot be performed on the "beard" area of your face.

The Do’s of Dermaplaning

DO: Avoid sun exposure as much as possible. If you must be in the sun, apply and reapply SPF every 2 hours, wear a hat and seek shade.

DO: Delay exposure to excessive heat, heavy workouts, steam rooms and saunas for 24-48 hours post treatment.

DO: Wait 7 days before having ANY facial waxing done. Waxing may be done prior to dermaplaning. I will only dermaplane up to the waxing border so as not to over stress your skin.

DO: Schedule your appointments 4 weeks apart to optimize results.

DO: Call me with both compliments and concerns.

DO: Enjoy your new look.
